The entrance to the Main Tunnel of the New Almaden Mine was down there in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This was a cinnaber (mercury ore) mine.
The tread is quite smooth going to the site of the old English Camp on the English Camp Trail.

The tread is quite smooth going to the site of the old English Camp on the English Camp Trail.
From the thick woods down in the Deep Gulch Trail, the view looks across Deep Gulch to hills on the other side of the gulch (lighter green through the trees).
