The trail drops to re-enter the woods after descending down the hillside.
The trail can be seen making its way toward Mindego Hill off in the distance.
The Ancient Oaks Trail emerges from the woods with views of Russian Ridge Preserve and the surrounding mountains spreading out before you.
The Charquin Trail passes through the woods as it approaches the Mindego Hill Trail. Tree limbs can be found on the side of the trail, especially after storms.
The trail passes under a large tree that provides shade from the sun and a nice place to rest on a hot day.
At this point, no mountain bikes are allowed on the trail to help protect San Francisco Garter Snakes, which can be found in the area.
The Ancient Oaks Trail joins up with the Charquin Trail in the oak woods.
Mindego Hill can be seen throughout the hike off in the distance. The summit of the hill is your destination, despite the fact the trail descends at this point.
