From the Ridge Trail, you can see the Hawk Trail descending the hillside and the Alder Spring below that.
While most of the preserve is made up of fields and forests, there are a few rock formations that stand out.
A view from he Vista Point overlooking the Stanford Dish Area and the South Bay area.
This is the Alder Spring Trail as it approaches the junction with the Charquin Trail. Deer and other animals can be seen feeding in the fields throughout the day.
The hills surrounding the Russian Ridge Preserve, and the Pacific Ocean, can be seen off in the distance.
The trail descends along a gravel road.
The Alder Trail follows a grass trail beneath the Hawk Ridge Trail as it winds its way to the gate close to the park boundary.
