Slaughter Slough Kiosk, the only visible marker for the trailhead, is near 225th Ave., a gravel road in the middle of farm fields and prairie.
Nicollet's Inscription is a collection of 6 names that were chiseled into the rock by the first US Governement expedition to the quarries in 1838. They were led by Joseph Nicollet, who led the expedition.
Winnewissa Falls is formed by Pipestone Creek, which runs through the heart of the monument.
The rock formation "Old Stone Face" can be seen from the circle trail.
