The trail can appear to be lost in the leaves in the fall. The leaves are dry up on the ridgelines.
Rhododendron sit along the trail as it climbs higher. The forest changes from a wet creek valley into a dry ridgeline the higher you climb.

The Thomas Divide Trails can be narrow in places, so watch your step, especially in the fall when there are a lot of leaves on the floor.
