You can see the trail as it works its way along the hillside above you at this point.
The trail is narrow and grasses encroach on the trail, so even though it is hot, pants are recommended to help protect your legs.
The trail climbs gently along the hillside to a gap in the ridge where the trail meets up with the Joe's Canyon Trail.
The trail intersects with the Yaqui Ridge Trail at roughly .7 miles. From here, you have another 2.4 miles of descent until you reach the road down in the valley close to the visitor center.
Even in the harsh, rocky environments, life finds a way. Here, a young cactus grows out of the rock.
