There are opportunities to explore the end of the trail, especially as the snow levels recede. Take the opportunity to take in the different views, even if it means taking one of the small trails that fan out at the top.
Mountain goats can be seen along the trail. Here, a mother mountain goat and her kid move away from the trail and linked up with another group of mountain goats.
The trail narrows and wraps around the hillside and offers sweeping views of the mountains of the Kenai Peninsula.
