On the ridge to Goodnight Peak, looking back to the north.
Go up to the right here when heading south on CCC Trail, to hike the Goodnight Peak Scenic Loop. No trail sign for it.
Red rock formations on the canyon walls can be seen from the CCC Trail as it drops down into the canyon.
Canyon walls on the far side of the Prairie Dog Fork of the Red River are seen looking northeast from the CCC Trail on the northeast side of the ridge to Goodnight Peak.
The flat high ridge top at Goodnight Peak is covered with hardy grasses, yucca, pricklypear cacti, and scattered juniper bushes.
The CCC Trail runs along a narrow ridge that leads to Goodnight Peak, as the sun sets on a late afternoon in February.
