The map didn't lie. This is a spring on the ridge of the mountain. Plenty bull frogs live here.
Thunderhead over Rich Mountain.
Red-Cockaded Woodpecker? Perhaps. This dwarf oak at the peak has seen its last days.
Loose rock and boulder hang from the shoulder. Tread carefully if you want to die older.
A primitive camping spot for weary travelers. Don't camp here. There are much better sites a few minutes away.
