This is really the first opportunity to see the lake if you're starting at the bottom of the trail...which I don't recommend. I would do this thing as a downhill, but i'm not sure if it's supposed to be directional. All the signs indicate it's uphill.
The trail wraps around lots of neat rock formations!

The trail wraps around lots of neat rock formations!
This section is on the Main Line trail, it is two way traffic and great for beginners
Entrance to the river trail
This is where you can exit Hillside Trail and go back down to the Mainline trail, or you can start the Esse's Trail.
I don't think I've ever run across a trashcan along a trail in the woods...people are definitely using though! Who dumps this thing?!? :D
