This is very representative of the surface you'll be hiking/running on for good chunks of time.
View from on top of the descent right before you get to the bottom.
View from the bottom. Careful on the descent, the scree is extremely loose, but the payoff is fantastic.

This is the best surface you can hope for and there's not much of it. Be ready to work on this hike/run.
