Looking up at ancient Red Cinder Cone on the west side of Red Cinder Pass. It's not very red for having the name Red Cinder Cone, wonder why....

Looking up at ancient Red Cinder Cone on the west side of Red Cinder Pass. It's not very red for having the name Red Cinder Cone, wonder why....
Forested Red Cinder, 8,375 ft., can barely by seen through the fir forest here on the east side of Red Cinder Pass.
As the trail climbs higher, it goes through sections of fir forest with little ground cover. Yellow dot trail markers help guide the way.
The trail to Triangle Lake heading east toward the Caribou Wilderness.
Jakey Lake, a pretty little lake along Widow Lake to Snag Lake Trail.
Widow Lake to Snag Lake Trail winds through the thin fir forest with beautiful bright green pinemat manzanita carpeting the ground.
