Butte Lake to Snag Lake Trail (West) passes right next to Fantastic Lava Beds (right). Ahead to the northwest, looms forested Prospect Peak.
Prospect Peak, 8,338 ft., is the forested mountain in the distance. In front of Prospect Peak's right shoulder is Cinder Cone, and in front of Cinder Cone are the black boulders of Fantastic Lava Beds. Seen looking northwest across Snag Lake.
Forest hills to the east emerge as Rainbow Lake to Nobles Trail travels through a regenerating burn area.
Mt. Hoffman, 7,833 feet, with Snag Lake below seen through the trees, looking east from Grassy Creek to Snag Lake Trail.
Fantastic Lava Beds coated with red, oxidized volcanic ash/cinders on the right. In the distance behind Fantastic Lava Beds is the gently sloped, forested Prospect Peak, an ancient shield volcano.
