Runner Notes
Packed dirt surface is smooth and easy footing.
Description
Upper Fireweed is an enjoyable run in either direction, and is often combined with
Lower Fireweed to make a mellow loop. Smooth trail surface and flat grade make both Upper and
Lower Fireweed popular with visitors. From the mid-Vail area, head down a short pitch under the Gondola One lift line to the signed junction of Upper Fireweed. Duck into the shady, forested section of trail were you'll find lush eye-popping green foliage and interpretive signs lining the trail.
Upper Fireweed gently transverses multiple ski runs covered with wildflowers, always with the Gore Range as a spectacular backdrop. Head back to the Eagle's Nest gondola area on service road, past the ropes courses and tubing hill. Note: bikes are not allowed on this trail.
