Runner Notes
This is a true singletrack trail contrary to the wider hiking trails that are more common in the area. Even cambered, packed dirt surface with hardly a rock or root to avoid. Abundant pine straw makes some areas slippery.
Description
Sunshine Canyon Trail is a nicely bench cut contouring trail that climbs from an intersection with
Red Rocks Trail near the
Mount Sanitas Trail into Sunshine Canyon. Because of the contouring and tame nature of this trail, it is a great option for beginning or out of town runners. It is mostly smooth and never gets very steep at all. In addition, the low angle of this trail means that it is still able to be done with normal footwear, even if it's snowy.
Flora & Fauna
Suprisingly wonderful variety of wildflowers in the sunny spots- especially in the early spring months (April & May).
