Description
The lower portion of Holly Lake trail starts in the trees and passes a designated group campsite. Continue through the trees and the trail finally pops out into a small meadow. From here you'll have great views of Holly Lake and
Paintbrush Divide.
Take a quick dip in this freezing alpine lake, or just soak up the views. Whatever you do, don't neglect the views of the surrounding peaks. Specifically Mt. Woodring (11,518') to the north, and The Jaw (11,327')/Mt. Saint John (11,379') to the south.
After these breathtaking views, steel yourself. The finish of this trail is very steep. Head southwest from the Lake as the trail winds its way back to
Paintbrush Canyon. After Holly Lake trail winds back to the right, you'll finally be on
Paintbrush Canyon. If you're headed to
Paintbrush Divide, good luck. If Holly Lake was your final destination, nice work!
