Description
From the Observatory, head east onto benches above wide open meadows. The trail passes a couple of the interpretive signs for planets of the "Planet Walk." (To see all 9 planets and understand their relative distances, start the walk from the Stables parking lot, combining the Sun, Meadow and Brushy Peaks Trails.)
The mostly level
Meadow Trail is easy walking with its wide, fine gravel surface. It is a nice warm up or cool down trail. After ducking into the towering trees, the trail passes several mossy rockpiles before joining Sonoma Creek. This trail ends at a trail junction after crossing a substantial wooden bridge at the Heritage Tree.
Flora & Fauna
Circling hawks are often seen hunting in the open meadows. Wildflowers can be seen in later winter, early spring.
