Description
Starting at the Hallowell Park trailhead, this trail climbs westward into the park along Mill Creek before descending to the Moraine Park
Cub Lake Trail.
From the trailhead, start out on the trail along the edge of the marshy area. Keep an eye out for moose as they frequent such environments. The trail then turns to the south and begin contouring up the eastern and then southern flanks of Sheep Mountain.
As the trail begins trending more to the west and northwest, look for another trail to branch off to the southwest. This is the
Mill Creek Cutoff trail which leads to the
Bear Lake - Mill Creek Trail - a trail that links the Mill Creek area to
Bear Lake. Shortly after the first junction, you'll pass another junction for the same trail as it loops back to
Mill Creek Trail.
Mill Creek then turns generally to the north and begins following an intermittent stream up to a saddle between Mt. Wuh and Sheep Mountain. After cresting the saddle, the trail descends steeply to meet the Moraine Park
Cub Lake Trail at
Cub Lake.
If you are accessing this trail from the
Cub Lake Trail eastward, there is a sign post where the two trails intersect just west of
Cub Lake.
