Overview
This scenic and incredibly easy route follows String Lake as it winds its way north providing awesome views of the Tetons. The route then skirts the eastern shore of Leigh Lake offering constant views of Mount Moran (12,605'). Finally, you'll reach the two lakes: Bearpaw and Trapper.
The views of the valley are better from Trapper Lake, but the views of the mountains are superior from Bearpaw - be sure to hit both!
Description
Starting from the Leigh Lake Trailhead (located at the northern end of the Leigh parking area), head northwest on
Leigh Lake Trailhead Connector. At the first junction you encounter turn right to start the scenic journey along
String Lake Trail. Follow this north as the Mount Moran views just keep coming! From the top of the Leigh Lake you'll have epic views of Mount Woodring (11,591'), Rockchuck Peak (11,145'), and Grand Teton (13,775') as it looms to the south.
Once you're at the northern tip of Leigh Lake, head west and take your pick of which lake to enjoy: Bearpaw or Trapper. Trapper Lake provides stunning views of the Jackson Hole Valley and is less-trafficked, but Bearpaw has better views of the mountains... If you're torn on which to experience, just do both! Once you've had your fill of lakefront views, head back to the Leigh Lake Trailhead.
