This climb up to Inverness Ridge is a wet, wonderful wilderness, but don't expect any views.

Description

To reach the Teixeira trail from the McCurdy parking area on Shoreline Highway (Hwy 1), take the Olema Valley trail across the marshy area and wade through Pine Gulch Creek. Immediately after this sometimes tricky creek crossing, the Teixeira Trail leaves to the west. Climb the lush, ferny hill through short, steep switchbacks. The main business of the uphill work is over by the junction to Pablo Point Trail.

From here, the densely vegetated trail contours more gently to eventually gain the ridge and arrive at the intersection with the Ridge Trail. The Teixeira trail was named for the Teixeira Dairy Ranch (residence and horse barns) near the trailhead on Highway 1 (across from the McCurdy Ranch). Note: bikes are allowed on this trail. The Teixeira ranchland was purchased in 1971 by the federal government.

Flora & Fauna
