Must take Shorthorn Trail where Longhorn becomes a BIKES ONLY descent to Whippletree.

Runner Notes

The unrelenting steep grades on this trail make it a great hill training tool.

Description

This trail is steep and strenuous. The Shorthorn Trail cutoff is required as Longhorn becomes BIKES ONLY at this intersection. Shorthorn Trail has some great, fast, technical sections.

The part between Maverick and Shorthorn Trail is notably steeper. The final stretch between Shorthorn and Belcher Hill has a couple of short, steep pitches and then one last loose, rocky descent with a couple of switchbacks.

There are some amazing views of the Colorado Front Range.
