Upper trailhead is accessed via Deer Park Road. Deer Park Road closes at the Park Boundary at first snow and reopens once it is melted out *usually* Mid June. The road is snowbound in winter. Avalanche dangers exist, winter navigation skills required.

Description

**This trail is described from the Three Forks (the bottom) up to Deer Park (the top of the trail). The closest trailhead to this trail at the top or "end" of this description, at Deer Park.**

From the three forks shelter, head north on Three Forks Trail. You'll start close the the river, and quickly move away from it. Along the way, you'll quickly wander through the lush green forest. You'll get close to the stream twice. Fill water at the second junction with the river. This will be your last water source and Deer Park is a dry camp.

After about 4 miles, you'll gain a ridge and the running will vary a little. Don't forget to turn around as you'll have great views to the south from the upper section of the trail. You'll then head west at the trail junction taking you into Deer Park campground in less than half a mile. At Deer Park campground, there is a seasonal ranger station to check out too.
