Runner Notes

This road links many great trails in the Tiger Mountain State Forest but is not an attraction in and of itself.

Description

The West Side Road (Rd 1000) makes for a nice added loop with the Iverson Railroad Trail, or can take you further west out to scenic Poo Poo Point. The road is accessed from the lower or upper parking areas by passing the gate just south of the upper parking area access road.

Access the western end of the Iverson Railroad Trail at 1.5 miles, or continue for several more miles all the way to Poo Poo Point. The road twists and turns as it travels northwest and has a few hills, including the final ascent up to the overlook. This far section of road is less-traveled than the more popular routes on Tiger Mountain and gives runners a nice workout, even through the winter.
