Starting from the parking lot access on Shelby Dr in West Sedona, Ridge Trail runs south through a pasture. The route is relatively flat except for a few rocky dry stream crossings.

After passing the Carroll Canyon intersection, Ridge starts to climb steadily to a high point overlooking Oak Creek Canyon and Cathedral Rock.

From there the trail descends gradually across sandstone before plunging down a few rocky sections. Stay right at the bottom of the last section and run out to the road. Cross the road and continue through flatter terrain to the Ramshead intersection. From here you can turn left to access Secret Slickrock and the Crescent Moon trailhead, or go right on Ramshead to Old Post trailhead.
