Runner Notes
This trail is steep and somewhat exposed at times. This is a popular descent route for mountain bikers, so be on alert as they may be on the edge of control. This trail will cook during summer days. Ideal timing is Spring/Fall or early on Summer mornings/evenings.
Description
Scout Trail begins right from the eastern terminus of 8th Street just a few blocks from downtown Glenwood Springs. Park there or nearby & start heading uphill! The trail climbs steeply at times. Though there will be no cliffs below you, the trail navigates a steep scree hillside during the most rigorous sections. Expect some loose footing at times.
Just when the trail mellows out on a sagebrush plateau 1,500' above Glenwood, you'll soon come to a T-Intersection with the Lookout Mountain Trail.
You have options to extend from here, or just enjoy the views & call it good with a quick out and back.
