Description
The start of this trail is off of the Stack Rock Trail at the large dead tree. If you see the
Mr. Big turnoff, you've gone too far. The trail descends on steep and loose switchbacks to start until you get down into Daniels Creek. Once in the creek bottom, the trail weaves down the drainage. The trail can get very narrow in sections with a drop off into the creek.
Eventually, you'll come out on a jeep track. Follow the track for about 0.25 miles, then follow the trail marker to the left back onto the trail.
From here, the trail avoids the steep descent and follows the switchbacks to take you to the bottom of the ravine. The trail then climbs to a flat and rocky section. Pass the trailhead to the Chukkar Butte Trail and continue downhill. Continue to stay left at any of the faint trails as you continue the descent. The final 0.5 miles ascend through a "zen garden" of granite boulders (where you'll break stride to clamber over the rocks). Finally, the trail will bear left and climb up to Bogus Basin Road.
A permanent easement agreement was signed between the landowner and the City of Boise. The more rutted sections have been nicely repaired!
