No campfires allowed at Crater Lake. Camping in designated sites only. Follow Leave No Trace principles. Permits are required for overnight stays in the Indian Peaks Wilderness (IPW) from June 1 to September 15.

Description

The junction to Crater Lake Trail is 6.7 miles up the Cascade Trail. After you branch off to the right onto the Crater Lake Trail, you travel up a moderate grade for 1.1 miles before terminating at Crater Lake. After 0.6 miles the trail crosses the stream on a double log footbridge and then continues following a series of switchbacks. The trail levels out at Mirror Lake, a small and shallow lake a quarter of a mile below Crater Lake. Towering above is Lone Eagle Peak.
