There may be restrictions in accessing Mohonk Mountain House property. During the winter, the trail may be marked as snowshoe or ski access only.

Description

This is a short trail that connects the trails around Mohonk Preserve and the Trapps to the Sky Top area and Mohonk Mountain House. The trail travels from the intersection of Patridgeberry Trail, Lake Shore Road, and Forest Drive to Rhododendron Bridge. For almost a third of its length, the road features a steep incline, relatively steep for a carriage road. This trail can seem like a relentless trudge. Going downhill is especially fun in the winter on skis! This is a really nice way to access both properties if you are out for a long day.

This carriage road was built in 1876 to link Mohonk with Alfred Smiley's new resort at Minnewaska Lake.
