Runner Notes

This is a steep, rocky trail with many switchbacks and spectacular views on a less traveled Grand Canyon trail.

Description

From the Hermits Rest Access, follow the signs down into the canyon. The trail descends on steep and rocky switchbacks and also contours around amazing views of the Grand Canyon. The trail descends to the Tonto Trail. This trail sees fewer travelers than the main corridor trails from the South Rim. There is one spring, Santa Maria, that has water and a shade shelter.
