Runner Notes

Some road with mostly atv trail

Description

You can access this area by taking the road to cross the bridge. This area is very scenic so stop and look around. When across the bridge heading north go to the first light and turn right. There is a parking lot at the corner and can be a starting point for ATV trails.

Head out on the trail and continue taking right-hand forks, but please avoid going over the edge. Keep heading in a general easterly direction until you have gotten as close as you like or have gone past the falls. If you run past the falls, you'll be going down the canyon but you lose the views. It is a bit of a descent, but the return trip gives you that elevation gain.

This is high desert, but the gorge allows for some amazing views. The second stop is about a 2.8 miles in and is the overlook for Pillar Falls. After a picture or two, head to the north and link back up with the trail heading east. Continue heading east for another 2 miles and find the best vantage point for Shoshone Falls.

At this point, head north until linking up with Shoshone Falls Rd for the faster way to get back to parking, just a straight run back to the bridge. Otherwise, stay on the ATV trails for the return and additional miles. Use this when wandering for too long and pressed for time to get back. Focus on the beauty, stay on the trail and do not worry about time, just enjoy.

Flora & Fauna

Not much but sagebrush and grass.
