Description
This is a "lollipop" shaped trail, starting and ending at the Dry Creek Trailhead off Baseline Road. It is a short, level outing suitable for families or casual runners.
Begin by heading south, then west through grassy fields next to Dry Creek and the Dry Creek irrigation ditch. Prairie dogs chatter and worry at your approach. Cross the bridge and choose either the left or right fork depending on whether you wish to complete the loop in the clockwise or counterclockwise direction. The views of the flatirons and Boulder County foothills are wonderful from here.
Loop around the open pasture and turn towards the west, eventually reaching the earthen dam that holds back Baseline Reservoir. The western half of this remote feeling trail follows the dam before turning east again and following a fence-line and wooded area back to the "stem of the lollipop." Retrace your steps east on the stem back to the trailhead.
Flora & Fauna
Prairie dogs, cottonwoods.
