Runner Notes

Description
Begin at the trailhead. Run to the right (as you face in from the road) up a gravel road past two metal tanks. Hillbilly Hayduke begins a few yards past the tank on the left, or continue up the road to the top and look for a split off back and to the left with a wooden sign "Flat Hollar" (sic) and drop in for a fast run. Including the gravel road this is a 0.8-mile loop with the potential to link up with
Sore Heel Trail Connector and numerous oil access roads in the area.
The Sheltowee Trace is located roughly three miles to the west.
From the lower terminus, you begin climbing with some moderate switchbacks through the forest. About a third of the way along the trail you cross an old steep logging or oil road and the trail begins climbing steeper terrain.
Just below the cliff line the trail hangs a hard right onto a wider abandoned road and changes character again, weaving back and forth across the old road bed and then contouring along a steep slope as you near the upper end.
This trail is the beginning of a planned longer system in this drainage which will ultimately tie into a greater system on the 700 acres the RRGCC owns in the Big Sinking drainage.
