Description

From the end of the North River Trail, hang a left into the woods. A couple switchbacks help to climb up to the prairie elevation. Along the way, there are a few rolling hills as you skirt along the edges of pine plantations and hardwood forests.

After about a mile take a right, just prior to meeting up with the park service road. Go too far and you'll end up on the Backpack Camping trail. Head east into a valley, then gently climb back out of it on the other side. The trail then heads south, looping around under the North River Trail next to the swimming beach.

Flora & Fauna

Typical prairie birds, flowers, and grasses, plus opportunities to see deer and fox.
