A great run for families as access to the top provides for an entirely downhill run with fantastic views of the Matterhorn and surrounding mountains. Though much of it is shaded be sure to wear sunscreen and bring water regardless.

Start by riding the underground funicular to Sunnegga. From the station head down the hillside to the dirt road. Turn right and follow the wide road into the larch forest. This road will take two long wide switchbacks through the forest before emerging in the town of Zermatt. You'll see the Matterhorn poke through the trees periodically.

When you hit town, to continue the established Waldweg follow the Brunnmattgasse walkway in the paved Steinmattstrasse and cross the river. Continue straight onto the walkway between houses which will wind around to your right and come out onto Hofmattstrasse. Take a left here and then a right onto Bahnhofstrasse to walk a couple blocks and end at the train station.
