The trail begins across from site B-7 in the campground. Make your way around a metal gate and follow a dirt road for a very short distance to the only group campground in the park. At the end of the road, the trail turns to singletrack and stays this way for its duration. The trail initially heads northwest and then gradually turns southwest as it sweeps along the northeastern side of Crescent Butte, a crescent-shaped hill that is the remnant of an old cinder cone. About halfway along the trail is the turnoff for Missing Link Trail. The trail is exposed and mostly flat, except for the last third of a mile where it gains slight elevation to end at a small parking area off the main park road known as Bunchgrass Overlook
This trail is a great late afternoon, early evening jaunt. The sunsets at the overlook are great and by this time the sun and temperatures will have subsided.
