Runner Notes
Layer accordingly & plan for any variety of alpine weather. Expect rocky terrain with some exposure & scrambling as you contour around the upper reaches of Rendezvous Mountain toward the summit. When the tram is running during the summer, you can download.
Description
Look for the start of the Cirque Trail on the south side of the Bridger Restaurants, and venture up the rocky and wildflower-covered Headwall before merging into the Cirque/Tensleep Bowl areas. Once into the Tensleep area, you'll be among sub-alpine forest and huge boulders. Looking up you'll also be just below the famous Corbet's Couloir ski run.
Continue past until you gain the east ridge, to just above the Sublette chairlift. Here, some scrambling is required, so use caution through this exposed area! The route/rocks are marked with red paint indicating the easiest path through this short section. Scramble up this craggy, knife-edged trail, until you arrive at the top of Corbet's Couloir! A few hundred feet more brings you to the top of the tram.
Cirque Trail is part of the
Rendezvous Mountain Hillclimb, a classic trail race that goes down every August.
