Runner Notes

This is a fire road that connects north and south bound trails with the Tennessee Valley to the south and Muir Beach to the north.

Description

This trail can only be accessed by taking another trail first. To get to this starting point, there are numerous trail options. From Highway One, beginning at Muir Beach, visitors can head up the Coastal Trail. From this point, visitors can continue right up to Coyote Ridge. The trail can also be reached by heading east off of the Pirates Cove Trail, taking a detour on the doubletrack portion of the Coastal Trail, and finally turning north at the Coyote Ridge Trail. If you decide to start through the Green Gulch Farm, the Middle Green Gulch Trail will also deliver you to the ridge. If one comes through the Tennessee Valley work your way up the Fox Trail or the Coastal Trail to join onto the Coyote Ridge Trail. Either way one will be granted views of "The City", the Pacific Ocean and all the wonderful hills of the coast. Sweeping views of hills, valleys, surf and more await you.

Once you climb up to the Coyote Ridge Trail you'll be rewarded with a fairly flat trail until you reach the final pitch to the peak. Here, you'll be viewing the East Bay and maybe even get a peek at Mt. Diablo. From the summit, you'll have a variety of options, but they're all downhill! Take you time to appreciate the view!
