Easy running in either direction. Wide and clean and away from most of the hiking visitiors. Watch for cyclists completing their loop through the Rodeo Valley.

The trail is wide with a gentle gradation. The trail is not heavily utilized by most visitors, so it offers some solitude.

Visitors who do decide to take this route will enjoy an exercise in geology as they take in views above the coast. When you come around the big right hand bend, be sure to look at the rock formations, as there are many living geological forces evidenced here.

Once visitors reach the top at the Battery Townsley, your views open up, and it is spectacular. Continue north up to the Wolf Ridge Trail or down toward the coast. Heading southward it is much easier going, and your return journey will be much easier as well.

Cyclists use this trail to complete a loop when they come into the Rodeo Valley. Watch for them in either direction.
