Bring bear spray.
Runner Notes
Heavy horse use makes the trail pretty rocky and stinky.
Description
One of the main trips of the horse concessionaire in Many Glacier goes through Cracker Flats and can stink in the summer. This trail takes off from the
Cracker Lake Trail by fording a small creek. It then works its way through some trees before popping out into an open meadow. This meadow has great views all the way around including Allen Mountain and Wynn Mountain to the south and Altyn Peak across Lake Sherburne to the northwest.
The trail travels through the open meadow passing clumps of trees until it comes near the edge of the lake. A little off trail across the meadows brings you to the edge of the water which is recommended.
From there, the trail does a 180 and begins to head back across the meadows, through the trees, then rejoins the
Cracker Lake Trail further east than you left it.
