Runner Notes
This route is popular with hikers, and the water bars will interrupt your flow.
Description
This meandering trail leads visitors to Goat Rock and the accompanying overlook. Starting from the Goat Rock Trailhead, this route is mostly a gentle descent. The route follows various switchbacks, and these give visitors a chance to look out over the views. There are a few novaculite water bars in place, so watch you step when you encounter one!
The route to the top of Goat Rock will eventually branch off to the west, as a series of stone steps leading to the lookout. Though a short side trip, the extra effort is well worth it, as views of open meadows and Indian Mountain are the reward.
Once you've had your fill at the overlook, continue on the descent until the trail reaches and end at the
Gulpha Gorge Trail. From there, you can return the way that you came, or head west on the
Gulpha Gorge Trail until you reach the road that leads back to the trailhead and your vehicle.
Flora & Fauna
Dense forest and open meadows are both to be had on this trail.
