Description
From the main parking lot at the Grant Grove, go toward the tour bus parking area on the west side. Take the dirt road that has been blocked off from traffic and look for the trail on the right. It is well marked. This trail winds past more giant sequoias, including some that have died in fires and are left as giant burnt spires. The trail ends back at the service road and there is a sign pointing toward the visitor center. When you hit the road, take a left back toward the Grant Grove and parking lot.
Though the Grant Grove is frequently packed, this trail does not seem to get much regular traffic. It is well worth it for those who want to get off the pavement and get closer to the giant trees. You can see the impact of fire on these less protected groves and run further away from the crowds.
