Description
Starting near the West Avon Preserve Trailhead next to the bottom of Metcalf Road, this paved path parallels Interstate 70. The trail rolls along sandwiched between Nottingham Road and the interstate next to businesses and condos. There are several official and unofficial access points for this trail along its length. Once Nottingham Road ends and you encounter the roundabout, be sure to use the cross walks and watch for erratic drivers. Many folks are unfamiliar with traffic circle navigation.
At about the 2 o'clock position on the traffic circle, the paved path continues southeast. Now the trail runs uphill between Swift Gulch Road and the interstate with a little more green space to spare. Soon after tunneling under the road, the path ends at another roundabout near the mouth of Nottingham Gulch (near I70's exit #168).
The path is multi-use, so expect to see hikers, runners, dogs and bikes.
