Runner Notes
A wide, fine gravel surface, with no shade.
Description
The user friendliness of this trail is apparent from the start; there is a comfy bench, trash receptacles, and a dog waste station all within the first few feet of the trail entrance. Run along the west bank of the creek, soon leaving the neighborhood behind. The trail is wide and smooth, covered with a fine gravel to make travel easy. The consistent and gradual grade is not taxing although there is no shade to be had on this route. As you continue along through the canyon, views of the dry foothills open up to north and glimpses of the ski resorts peep through to the south.
Soon, pass the junction of the
Wild West Ridge Trail with it's many tight switchbacks snaking up the hill. The valley broadens and the June Creek Trail ends after a series of barrier boulders block motorized access from the
June Creek Road beyond.
This is a multi-use trail so expect to share with mountain bikers, hikers, and dogs.
Flora & Fauna
Sage, pinyon, cedar, scrub. Some drought-tolerant wildflowers.
