Description
The Stuart Falls Trail begins at a large intersection between the PCT, and the
Pumice Flat Trail. You'll start out on either the Pumice Flat or PCT, and you'll note that once you arrive at the Stuart Falls Trail, your way will become noticeably cooler. The vegetation will also make a transition from the pine to fir.
You'll also notice that the grade steepens from the previous trails, and you'll be moving over rocks and up switchbacks as the trail meanders through the forest. Continue on your way through mixed shade and sunshine, enjoying the various viewpoints that present themselves.
The highlight of this trail is the actual Stuart Falls. The falls aren't located directly on the trail, so you'll need to work your way off trail (following a well-marked sign) to obtain views. It's certainly worth the extra work!
Once you've had your fill of the falls, you can begin the climb back to the
Pumice Flat Trail, or you can exit via the Red Blanket Falls Trail out to the trailhead in the Rogue River National Forest.
