Description

A number of roughly north-south connector trails criss-cross the crater floor to link the Halemau'u Trail to the Sliding Sands Trail. These connectors pass between the numerous cinder cones that litter the basin here. Any number of loops can be created by using these connector trails in combinations to create routes of various lengths.

Connector B begins around mile 5.9 of the Halemau'u Trail and snakes between two prominent cinder cones before intersecting Connector A. Connector B then heads southeast, over mostly level terrain before terminating at approximately mile 5.7 of the Sliding Sands Trail.

Heed the warnings and be prepared for cold and unpredictable weather. Also, be aware that the high altitude will cause dehydration and fatigue much faster than at sea-level. As of this writing, no food is available for purchase inside the park, so bring your own.
