Description
A natural continuation of the
Southeast Rim Trail, the Northeast Rim Trail provides equally wonderful views of the surrounding area. Turning from the desert vistas to the south, feast your eyes on the rugged Chisos Mountains to the north.
Starting at the junction with the
Southeast Rim Trail and the
NE-4 Backcountry Campsite Access Trail, follow the trail along the rim on a smooth-treaded ribbon of singletrack. Keep your eyes peeled for the towering, craggy precipice of
Emory Peak to the north, as well as the scenic Boot Canyon near its southern flanks. As the third-tallest mountain in Texas, this peak should surely make the lists of any aspiring peak-baggers.
After enjoying the fantastic views along the route, continue to the trail's end at a junction with the
Boot Canyon Trail.
