Description
Park at the Loma Verde Trailhead within Saguaro NP. Begin by taking the
Loma Verde Trail north. There are several trail interactions along the way, but after approximately .3 miles, you come to the signage indicating Monument Wash. The Monument Wash Trail is exactly as it sounds, since the trail is in the bottom of a dry wash.
Monument Wash Trail continues north for approximately two miles before ending at Speedway Blvd on the northern boundary of Saguaro NP. Just to note, there is no designated parking area for this trail on Speedway. You can return the same way, or feel free to leave the Monument Wash Trail by connecting to several east/west trails in the area and make a loop. For instance, a loop run starting at the Loma Verde trailhead could be
Loma Verde Trail for .2 miles to Monument Wash Trail. Take Monument Wash trail north to Pink Hill (east) Trail. This sounds weird, but go west, on
Pink Hill (East) trail to
Loma Verde Trail. Take
Loma Verde Trail south which takes you back to your car.
Please remember that navigating in a dry wash is a lot like running on the beach. While not difficult, it takes a little more effort than traveling on a firmly packed trail.
