This loop trail provides several views of Mica Peak to the east and Mt. Spokane to the north, so be sure to slow down to enjoy the scenery while you're out. The pond is flush with wildlife in the spring and early summer but dries out by July/August. The unique rock formations are a result of a series of parallel fault lines that run through the Spokane region.

The trail itself is a wide singletrack that is quite friendly to navigate. Consistent maintenance has tamed any obstacles that would be present. Due to the forested nature of the trail, there is ample shade, which makes the trail a great option during warmer summer months.

This trail also provides a jumping-off point for many other beautiful trails in the Natural Area, such as the Nimbus Knob Trail and the Pinecliff Loop Trail. The trail is especially beautiful during the spring, summer and fall and the park is an excellent snowshoe area in the winter.

This is a great place to see various animals from squirrels and rabbits to coyotes, cougars and the odd bear and moose. In addition, there is a large diversity of wildflowers in spring and early summer.
