Overview
The well-maintained trails of Riverside State Park make this a relatively easy run. This a multi-use, shared access trail with horseback riders, mountain bikers, hikers, and trail runners. It is not excessively used by any one group, so you are likely to have the trail to yourself.
Runner Notes
There are some big rocks on parts of trail - only in a few areas.
Description
Park in the Riverside State Park Military Cemetery parking area, off of Government Way. You'll need a Washington State Park Discover Pass to park.
As you get to the bottom of the paved hill leaving the parking lot there are several options of different dirt trails to take. Take a right onto
Trail 100 to head along the ridge along the Spokane River. You can detour toward the river and take a dip in warmer weather!
This route takes your northwest along the ridge above the river until you are across from the Waste Water Treatment plant. From there, you head back "inland" on a short connector trail to connect to
Trail 42. We eventually found our way to the Equestrian Camping area.
From there, it is a mostly paved/gravel roadway back to the Military Cemetery Trailhead as you follow the road for a short way and then hop on the Spokane Centennial Trail for an easy trip back to the parking lot.
