Description
This trail starts at the southeast end of Mission Park. There are great "
Centennial Trail" medallions on the trail, with arrows, to help mark the entire way.
From Mission Park, head south on the trail. This section will take you by the railroad and cross two streets, utilizing crosswalks, and then it will use a bridge to bypass a busier street and take you though the Gonzaga Campus. After you go through Gonzaga, you'll take a wooden bridge. Continue to follow the medallions on the trail as you'll soon end up going past the convention center and the INB Arts Center at around 1.6 miles.
From here you'll wander through Riverfront Park. This can be a busy place, full of festivals in the summer time. Enjoy the view, this can also be a good time to pop off the trail if you wanted to go explore downtown Spokane a little bit.
From the west end of Riverfront Park, the trail will cross Post Street and continue through the Kendall Yards area. After leaving Kendall Yards you'll be going through to the West Central area. From here at 4.4 miles you'll cross Boone Street and the trail will continue utilizing the sidewalk until you cross the Fort George Bridge.
Take the crossing on the east side of the bridge. This will allow you to make your way under the bridge after crossing it, and will lead you back onto a dedicated trail.
After crossing the bridge continue on the ever-so-slightly inclined trail. This will take you below Spokane Falls Community College on your way to the junction with the Military Cemetery Trailhead.
